This piece was inspired after my 2013 car accident that left scars on my head and a lifetime of traumatic brain injury symptoms. “Lucha Interna” (Internal Struggle) is created of multiple car and farm equipment pieces to resemble a masked luchador mask. The top of the sculpture has tears in the mask in the same shape as the real scars left from the accident. A reminder of what happened and what I was left with. Just like my sculptures, I aim to emphasize each dent and scratch including my own.
